I’m sure you have all completed the survey forms, whether online or in hard copy, but that is not enough. In addition to the Council submissions we encourage everyone to write to the Council and all the Councillors, either individually or as a group, to let them know your opinion. Below are some main points that we will be putting to the Councillors when we meet them; it would be great if everyone could include these in their letters and emails. It would be better if you use your own words, but if you are pressed for time, feel free to copy and paste these points into an email:

  • I strongly oppose the proposed changes
  • I believe that Councillors did not provide any facts to support the changes
  • I want the original policy left in place.
  • I request that Council conduct a transparent consultative process to establish a new policy that is fair and widely accepted.

Illawarra Dog Community’s meeting with the Councillors

We have asked the Councillors to meet with 4 representatives of the group on Saturday 13 Sept to discuss the reasons behind the proposed policy and to put to them that they should veto the policy and implement a fairer community consultation.
